Grade 3 would like to celebrate the month of March by dedicating the month to kindness. As part of project–based learning and charitable approach to showing kindness with a scientific twist, the third graders would like to challenge each student to bring in a full box of cereal. This project will be a collaborative student led initiative and they will decide how to promote the project. After the boxes are collected, students will create a huge domino run. The third graders are learning about Newton’s law of force; in this instance an object remains at rest unless acted upon by another force. As each cereal box falls, it acts on the other and goes from a state of rest to a state of motion and it transfers the energy to the next box. At the end of the project, the cereal will be donated to local food pantries.
